The exceptional biodiversity that inhabits the rainforest is one of the main attributes of the Amazon region, in addition to its size, its volume of fresh water, its extent and its energy potential. The way in which Amazonian peoples relate to nature, both in the present and in the past, makes it possible to conserve and, in particular, increase Amazonian biodiversity.
